Piloting a 40-foot class boat, Guo Chuan did a 130-day odyssey from Qingdao by the East Sea of China. The 21,600-nautical-mile solo journey within 130 days on the smallest class boat without calling at port during the navigation create a new world record in human trans-ocean navigation history.
No sailor has ever attempted to challenge a solo non-stop circumnavigation in such a small sized boat as an Akilaria Class 40. Therefore, Guo Chuan’s run is a new world record for solo non-stop circumnavigation of Class 40 boat, and for the first time, by a Chinese national.
